The Importance of Being Kind and Polite

Being kind and polite means that your behavior shows respect for the rules that the majority follow, or in other words, act in a civilized way to avoid misunderstanding and conflict.

There are no laws enforcing respect. Yet we cannot interact with others without some rules of behavior, rules that are set by some form of social consensus.These guidelines represent what a majority of people consider acceptable and what they consider unacceptable. For instance, many people talk at movies, or make boring conversations with their cellular-phones and so on . In fact their behavior is closer to that of animals than civilized individuals.

Remember, every little bit of kindness & good manners helps, namely, being polite and showing respect can give us an edge, & it is always a good idea to be kind and polite.

Fast Food

Fast food is becoming more popular in China, especially among children and teenagers. There are several reasons for its popularity. First, it is very convenient and saves a lot of time.

You just go into a fast food restaurant, order your food, and your food is ready in no time. Second, its popularity is also attributed to it clean and comfortable environment, the excellent service, and the guaranteed quality of food.

However, in terms of nutrition, fast food is far from satisfactory. It usually does not compose a balanced diet and is low in nutritional value. While cooking at home offers healthy and delicious meals your body needs. Fast food is only a good choice when you are in a hurry and turn to it once in a while.

Knowledge Is Power

The saying “Knowledge is Power” becomes universally accepted in that it reveals a simple yet brutal fact: It is the brain rather than sword that makes an individual or a nation strong.

The truth the saying speaks has been proven in man’s civilization, which is, to the greatest extent, accelerated by man’s knowledge in the form of science and technology. A century ago, it took many-years to send a message to the other end of the world. Nevertheless, we can have it done in seconds today with just touches on computer keyboard.

“Knowledge is power” means something particular to us Chinese since China remains backward. We must sweat over knowledge so as to build China into one of the world’s economic giants.

My Hobby

I have been collecting stamps at my leisure time for ten years I am so greatly interested in it that it has become a hobby with which I can’t part.

Stamp-collecting is a never-ending pleasure as well as an education for me. As I wander through the album from China to India, from South Africa to France, I learn many facts and historic data about distant lands, details of foreign customs, arts, literature and culture. There is always something to do in connection with it, from meeting like-minded collectors, exchanging stamps, getting advice to showing off the latest find. Stamp-collecting occupies my leisure hours constructively. It makes me contented, with no time for boredom.

I want to be a stamp-collecting NO.1 in my country.

Reading Books

Many people consider gold and silver as the most valuable things. They like these things more than anything else. I, on the contrary, put reading books first in the world.

The old saying, “to open a book is always beneficial”, sufficiently shows how good it is to read a book. Books are our friends, which introduce us to different kinds of knowledge and lead us to the road of greatness. They increase our knowledge, enlarge our experience, strengthen our character and do   many other things which we might otherwise have failed to do.

Yet our life is limited and the knowledge is boundless. Therefore, we must make the best use of our time to read more books, thus to obtain more knowledge.
